A child online safety education nonprofit rooted in the human-animal bond.
Phoenix Paw Foundation is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit helping children, families, schools, libraries, and communities learn one simple protective rule: Freeze. Check. Tell.
Why We Exist
The world changed faster than anyone could keep up with.
We are the last generation to remember a childhood before all of this, and the first responsible for protecting children in a world shaped by AI. Most parents and teachers were never taught how these systems work, or how quickly AI made the risks grow. That is not a failure. It is how fast the world changed. Phoenix Paw exists to help every family and school catch up, calmly and without shame.

Our Mission
To provide practical, age-appropriate child online safety education rooted in the human-animal bond, helping children, families, schools, libraries, and communities recognize unsafe online situations and ask for help.
Our Vision
A world where every child knows what to do when something feels wrong online, and where every family, school, and community has the tools to support them.
"We are educational, evidence-informed, nonclinical, nonpartisan, warm, practical, and child-safety focused. Animals are the bridge to trust, empathy, healing, and learning."
We teach courage, not fear.
We do not teach children to fear technology, AI, or the online world. We teach them to understand it, question it, and protect themselves within it, so they grow up more confident, not more afraid.
The Problem We Solve
Why child online safety education matters.
Children face real dangers online every day. Most do not know what to do when something feels wrong. Phoenix Paw exists to change that, one workshop, one family, one community at a time.
Online Predators and Grooming
- Predators use social media, gaming, and apps to target children
- Grooming is gradual, manipulative, and hard for children to recognize
- 1 in 5 children online are solicited by predators each year
- Children often do not tell adults because they feel ashamed or afraid
- Early education is the most effective prevention tool
Sextortion and Exploitation
- Sextortion is one of the fastest-growing online threats to minors
- AI-generated CSAM surged 26,362% in 2025 (IWF)
- Victims are often threatened into silence
- Children need to know: it is never their fault
- Telling a trusted adult is always the right move
The Gap in Safety Education
- Most children receive little to no practical online safety education
- Parents and educators often lack the tools to start the conversation
- Schools face time and resource constraints
- CyberPaw fills this gap with a 45-60 minute workshop
- One simple rule: Freeze. Check. Tell.
What Guides Us
Our Core Values
Mission-First
Every decision, program, and partnership is evaluated against a single question: does this protect children and build a safer digital future?
Transparency
We publish our impact data, financials, and program outcomes openly. Grant-makers and donors deserve to see exactly where every dollar goes.
Inclusion
The cybersecurity workforce gap is a diversity gap. We actively recruit, train, and support underrepresented communities to enter and lead in cybersecurity.
Urgency
AI-generated child exploitation material surged 26,362% in 2025. We operate with the urgency this crisis demands, not the pace of bureaucracy.
The Full Circle
Today's protected child becomes tomorrow's cybersecurity defender.
Today's sheltered animal teaches the empathy that saves lives. The phoenix doesn't just rise for itself. It rises for everyone behind it. That's the unifying thread through every program we run, every resource we publish, and every defender we train.
"The kid who was protected becomes the adult who protects. Full circle. Full phoenix."
