A 45-60 minute child online safety workshop that uses the human-animal bond to teach children, families, schools, and communities one simple protective rule: Freeze. Check. Tell.
The CyberPaw Rule
When something online feels wrong, scary, or confusing - children learn to do three things. Simple enough to remember. Powerful enough to save a life.
Stop what you are doing. Do not respond, send anything, or click anything else.
Ask yourself: Does this feel safe? Is this person who they say they are? Would I be okay if a trusted adult saw this?
Tell a trusted adult - a parent, teacher, counselor, or another safe person. You will not be in trouble. You did the right thing.
Workshop Format
Children meet and interact with shelter animals or animal ambassadors. This builds trust, opens emotional connection, and creates a safe space for learning.
Through age-appropriate stories, activities, and discussion, children learn the three-step rule for any unsafe online situation: Freeze (stop), Check (is this safe?), Tell (a trusted adult).
Interactive scenarios help children practice recognizing unsafe situations and applying the rule. Role-play, Q&A, and take-home materials reinforce the lesson.
Parents and educators receive a take-home guide with conversation starters, warning signs to watch for, and local and national reporting resources.
